Obituary for Samuel Edward Ross, Sr.

Cumberland, MD – Samuel Edward Ross, Sr., 71, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center. 

Born December 26, 1947, in Frostburg, MD, Mr. Ross was the son of the late Fred Ross and Minnie (Frost) Ross. He was also preceded in death by his son: Samuel Edward Jr. 

Samuel retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Sam also enjoyed extensive gardening.  He will be missed by his family, friends, and of course, his cat, Sampson. 

Samuel is survived by his wife of 42 years: Brenda Ross; his son: Scott Ross and his best friend and partner, Johanna; his daughter: Tracy Clites and partner, Paul; and his grandchildren: Remington and Madison Ross; Marshall Jensen; Samantha Vickory; and Ricky Jones. He also leaves behind his sisters: Catherine Ross and partner, Mike; Linda Robertson and husband, Bob; Esther Kay; and his brother: Willard Ross and partner, Brenda; and his second family: Nat and Dot Workman and their children. 

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, March 1, 2019, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

The family would like to thank the Schwab Cancer Center, and a special thank you to Dr. Zaman, as well as the Second Floor Staff at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center for the care given to Samuel.
