Cumberland MD - Martha Pearl Fletcher, 80, of Cumberland, MD, formerly of Frostburg, MD and Somerset County, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born September 18, 1938, in Flintstone, MD, Martha was the daughter of the late Loyd D. She met her best friend, James, in high school and they spent 57 happily married years together raising their family.  They remained best friends until he passed away in May 2014.  She was a farmer’s wife and spent several years as a school bus driver but her most important role was making a home for her husband and three sons.  She was a loving wife, mother, and role model for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She loved to read, sew, and work outside in her garden and flower beds.  Martha enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially those at the apartment complex where she moved in 2014.  She was a friend to everyone and will be missed by all who knew her.  Each Sunday she attended Mountain Top Holiness Church.

She leaves behind her sons, James Fletcher, Jr., and wife, Darlene, Frostburg, MD, Ira Fletcher, and wife, Lavon, Beattyville, KY, and Paul Fletcher and wife, Nancy, Oldtown, MD. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Latasha Weaver, Darrin Fletcher and wife, Jennifer, Daniel Fletcher and wife, Natalie, Rachel Heron and husband, Sean, and Cody Fletcher, her great grandchildren, J'Quan Fletcher, Molly Fletcher, and Ellie Fletcher.  She also leaves behind her special niece, Kathy Shannon and husband, Jerry, and many other nieces and nephews.
