Obituary for Dorothy "Dottie" Eilene DiNicola

Cumberland, MD – On Saturday, October 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy “Dottie” Eilene DiNicola, 74, of Cumberland, MD, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She is reunited with her husband of 51 years, Pastor Joseph DiNicola.

Born March 30, 1944, in Cumberland, MD, Dottie was the daughter of the late William Payton and Dorothea “Toots” (Robinson) Payton. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Delbert “Deb” Payton and Eugene “Gene” Payton, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Dottie is survived by her sons: Joseph DiNicola, Jr., and wife, Keri; Dwayne DiNicola and wife, Tracy; Todd DiNicola and wife, Becky; and Toby DiNicola and wife, Tammy; 10 grandchildren: Kyli Hodel and husband, Timmy; Katelin Shook and husband, Jeramy; Chloe DiNicola; Seth DiNicola and wife, Chantelle; Courtney DiNicola; Bayleigh DiNicola; Heather Thompson and husband, Justin; Brandon DiNicola; Katrina DiNicola; and Devin DiNicola. Dottie is also survived by 11 great grandchildren: Kinzie, Kerrigan, and Kaisen Hodel; Cooper Shook and Krew on the way; Gabriel and Raquel DiNicola; Ava DiNicola; Maddox and Arizona Welsh; Bailey and Kaleb Thompson; the daughter she never had, Judy Hodel and husband, Tim; along with four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Dottie was a 1962 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She worked many jobs but the one that she was most proud of was being a Pastor’s wife. Her husband was the pastor of the Oldtown Baptist Fellowship for over 20 years and then went onto be the interim pastor at Graceland Baptist Church where they served until his death in 2013. Dottie would like to be remembered as a woman who loved and feared the Lord; she loved her husband, her four sons, and all her grandchildren more than life itself.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., and from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

A celebration of Dottie’s Life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Dan Twigg and Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Our family would like to thank Frostburg Village Nursing Home and the Western Maryland Health System’s Fifth Floor High Level Care Nursing Staff for taking care of our Mom. We would also like to thank all her caregivers throughout the years. A very special thanks to her devoted friends, Earl and Nancy Trimble.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Graceland Baptist Church.
