Obituary for Shannon (Weitzell) Kennell

Cumberland, MD – Shannon (Weitzell) Kennell, 48, of Cumberland, MD, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 7, 2018, from a brain aneurysm at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. 

Born April 22, 1970, Shannon was the daughter of Linda Weitzell, Cumberland, MD, and Bernard Weitzell Sr., Rawlings, MD.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Richard and Margaret McLaughlin; Sr., Cliff and Leola Weitzell; her aunt: Kathleen Cousins; and her uncle: Richard McLaughlin, Jr. 

Shannon graduated from Allegany High School and the Vo-Tech Center in 1988. She was a mother and a homemaker.  She is survived by her husband: Roger Kennell; and her son: Ryder, at home.  She is also survived by her siblings: Bernard Weitzell, Jr., and wife Cathy, Cresaptown, MD; Katrina Barnett and fiancé, Jerry Chungo, Cumberland, MD; and Richard Weitzell and partner Andrew Hale, Philadelphia, PA.  Shannon also leaves behind two stepsons: Nicholas and Christopher; her niece and best friend: Amanda (Barnett) Workman; several nephews: Brandon Barnett; David and Nathan Weitzell; and Zachary Blank; and step grandchildren: Aurora, Jeremy, Kavin, and Nicole. 

Shannon continues to live and impact lives through organ donation. We would like to thank the kind and caring CVU nurses at WMHS.  We cannot express how much we appreciate Heba and Robin, from The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland for taking time and walking us through the organ donation process with kindness and empathy. 

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Adams Funeral Home to help with the cost of Shannon's funeral.
