Obituary for Sandor James Northcraft

Cresaptown, MD – Sandor James Northcraft, 75, of Cresaptown, MD, formerly of Deep Creek Lake, left the range on Friday, May 4, 2018. 

Born December 17, 1942, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Northcraft was the son of the late Cecil James Northcraft and Lillian (Gerson) Northcraft.  

A graduate of Allegany High School, Sandy retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Company and was a driver for Smith Transport. After retirement, Sandy owned his own sporting goods store at Deep Creek Lake and competed in numerous bench rifle marksmanship tournaments.  Sandy was a member of the National Rifle Association.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a federal firearms dealer and gunsmith. 

Sandy is survived by his wife of 51 years: Carla “Nita” (Smith) Northcraft; his stepson: Max Evans and wife, Michelle, Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren; and a special nephew: David Spurling. The family would like to give a special mention to Dennis and Julie Long and family, Cresaptown, MD, Sandy’s caregivers of three years.  He also leaves behind his special cousins: Joe and Pat Graham, Bel Air, MD; and Larry and Donna Goldizen, Bel Air, MD; a special friend: Joey Rank; his best friend: Jim Schute, both of LaVale, MD; and his sisters-in-law: Nelda and Baxter Ellifritz.  Sandy loved all animals, especially, Maggie, his kitty. 

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Sunday, May 6, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M., with Rabbi Mark Perman officiating. 

Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery.
