Obituary for Roberta “Robbie” Catherine Powers

Cumberland, MD – Roberta “Robbie” Catherine Powers, 86, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Born September 21, 1930, Hyndman, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry William Schmerer and Anna Mae (Willison) Schmerer.  She was also preceded in death by her sons: Eddie B. Shroyer and Johnny C. Shroyer; a grandson: Travis Gean’t; a special cousin: David Mock; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
 
For many years, Robbie owned ceramic shops in the Cumberland Area.  She was also a caretaker for the elderly.  Robbie was a member of the Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion Auxiliary and the Cumberland Democrat Club.
 
Robbie is survived by her daughter: Linda T. Gean't and husband, Steve; her daughter-in-law: Jill Shroyer; her grandchildren: Shana Powers and Daniel Shroyer; her great granddaughter: Kayla Powers; as well as numerous loving cousins.
 
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 P.M., with Reverend Wayne Turner officiating.
 
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, Post Office Box #566, Cumberland, MD 21501-0566.
 
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center for all the care and compassion given to Robbie.
