Obituary for Norma June (Heier) Donahue

Cumberland, MD – Norma June (Heier) Donahue, 78, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Born January 15, 1940, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Donahue was the daughter of the late Lewis Conrad Heier and Norine June (Wassen) Heier. She was also preceded in death by her older brother: Charles Heier; a great grandson: Levi Joshua; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1960, Norma retired from the Allegany County Board of Education in the Food Service Department at Northeast Elementary School. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.  Anyone who met Norma loved her.  Kind does not do her personality justice.  Norma was sweet, kind, and loving. 

Norma is survived by her husband of 54 years: Ralph E. “Jake” Donahue; her only son: Raymond E. Donahue and her very special daughter-in-law: Mechele “Micki” Donahue. She also leaves behind her grandsons: Steven S. Donahue; and, Jesse A. Donahue and wife, Brittany; and her great grandchildren: Aroura, Jeremiah, and Ryan Donahue; and a special niece: Diane Iskra and husband, Chuck. 

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. 

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. 

Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
