Obituary for Donald Lee Hansrote

Ellerslie, MD – Donald Lee Hansrote, 73, of Ellerslie, MD, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. 

Born March 16, 1945, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Hansrote was the son of the late George Stanley Hansrote, Sr., and Eva Mae (Miller) Hansrote-Woodrum. He was also preceded in death by his son: Daniel Hansrote; and a brother: George Hansrote, Jr. 

A graduate of Mount Savage High School, Class of 1963, Don was a United States Naval Veteran, and a former employee of the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America, Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company, Allegany Community College, and Potomac Valley Home Medical Supply. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church, Cumberland, MD, and attended the Calvary Bible Church.  Don was a “jack-of-all-trades” and a master of none.  His first love was his family and he took good care of them. 

Don is survived by his wife of 49 years: Joyce Hansrote; his sons: David Hansrote; and Steven Hansrote and wife, Mackenzie Agosto; and his daughter: Theresa Hall and husband, Trey. He also leaves behind his brother: William “Frank” Hansrote; and his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: William, Nathan, and Carrigan Hall; Eowyn, Aurelia, Thaddeus, and Elena Hansrote. 

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

A funeral service will be conducted at the Calvary Bible Church on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Greg Miller officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service. 

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the WMHS Home Hospice, 1050 West Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, MD 21502; or, Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mavromatis, Dr. Naeem, the Schwab Family Cancer Center, and WMHS Home Hospice for all the care and compassion given.
