This
funeral Home was originally founded in 1953, as Silcox Service, by
H. Lee Silcox and his wife, Ruth E. Silcox. The business prospered
for several years leading to the first of several additions. In 1961
as the first of several additions was being laid out, Robert C. Adams
began his first day at the funeral home. In 1968, the funeral home
underwent a change of name, to Silcox-Merritt Funeral Service, with
the partnership of the Silcox's son-in-law, Dale L. Merritt. In 1990,
Robert C. Adams, became a partner leading to another name change,
Merritt Adams Funeral Home, P.A., which has recently been renamed
to The Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A.
Shortly after, another and the most expansive and ambitious renovations
had been planned. In 1993, the grand opening of the newly remodeled
facility was held. In Fall of 2001, Robert C. Adams purchased the
funeral home from his partners, and with the licensing and training
of his son, has ensured that this funeral home will continue for another
generation the same care and quality with which it has always prided
itself on. The new funeral home still boasts of the largest rooms
of any around. In addition, a crematory was installed on the premises,
allowing us to better serve the needs of the changing cultures. The
most successful and perhaps the most unique part of the facility was
the opening of the children's room. Unlike many places, we have placed
a strong emphasis on the funeral as being a family affair, which it
is. This has allowed the entire family to experience this difficult
time at their own pace. |
