Ellen Sue Yokum

November 4, 1948 - April 23, 2007
Bedford, PA - Ellen Sue Yokum, 58, of Bedford, PA, died on Monday, April 23, 2007, at the WMHS-Braddock Campus. Born November 4, 1948, in Bedford, PA, she was the daughter of Hazel Virginia (Growden) Zembower, Bedford, PA, and the late Alvin Gordon Zembower.  Mrs. Yokum was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Zembower, and an infant brother. A graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1966, Mrs. Yokum was previously employed at the Bedford County Jail.  She was a charter member of the Cumberland Valley Fire Department and was an Emergency Medical Technician. Mrs. Yokum is survived by her son, Gordon Bruening and his wife, Charlene, Manns Choice, PA; her sisters, Linda Garland and her husband, Ralph, Newville, PA; Cynthia Fouts, Centreville, PA; Carol Koontz and her husband, James, Duncansville, PA; S. Jeanne Riggleman and her husband, Monte, Rig, WV; Connie Miller and her husband, B. Keith, Fisher, WV; and Kim Zembower, Cumberland, MD; her brothers, Thomas Zembower and his wife, Tammy, Fishertown, PA; and Troy Zembower and his wife, Sherry, Cresaptown, MD; her grandchildren, Kayla, Gordon, Jr., and Maggie Bruening; her special friend, Dave Miller; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was conducted at the Cumberland Valley Township Fire Hall on Sunday, April 29, 2007, at 2:00 P.M., with Reverend Samuel Rust officiating. The family requested that memorials be made to the Cumberland Valley Fire Department, 4344 Bedford Valley Road, Bedford, PA 15522.
